Taking breaks are necessary

A quick study of Brett to shake things up a bit. Working on one project without drifting to something else would drive me insane. It's always good to have multiple pieces going at once so my eyes don't become numb to what I'm working on.

quite the transformation

I finally have a process down for my project that I like. The first painting is almost completed but I'm going to let it sit awhile before I mess with it. I am still trying to figure out what to do with the background, and also what text to place on top of the figure. On to the next one!

The struggle

working to make sense of the nonsense going on in this studio...

Taking the Leap

An amazing read thus far. This was recommended to me by my professor, and I would recommend this to all visual artists (regardless of where you are in your careers).

Pink Lemonade

canvas preparation

Self Portrait "Self Reflection"

I started off with an underpainting in acrylics, and completed the painting in oils. I tried to create depth by having the smaller text in the background, layers of paint in the middle, and larger text on top.

Combining Text and Images

My Final Year

I'm in my final year of graduate school, and it's final thesis planning time!

I haven't been blogging for over a year but this is the best time to start up again. I'm anticipating this final year to be VERY exciting, especially since I'll hopefully be receiving lots of help from my friends ;)

Before I try to drag you guys into my project, I should explain how my idea for my final thesis came about:

First, I've always appreciated good writing pieces and I'm a huge journal writer. I like to analyze and connect with my thoughts, vent, and sometimes just scribble down nonsense. I'm a fan of dramatic novels, poems, short stories, etc. Another thing that sparked my idea for my thesis is my interest in different kinds of people and the various ways we express ourselves. As a sensitive person, I am very much in tune with my feelings and am intrigued by what others may be feeling as well. Lastly, my thesis incorporates the dynamic identities of women... my connection to this is obvious.

To get a full understanding of my final project I am leaving a link to the actual proposal document which explains everything in detail!
